Client Brief

Woolooware Golf Club contact SLD to discuss the illumination of their overflow carpark with solar streetlights. The client was conducting a direct comparison of solar lighting and a fixed 240v option. The client brief requested:

• Australian Standard Lighting design using solar streetlights.
• Hinged Columns – Allowing for ease of cleaning and relocation of the installed solar lighting.
• Relocatable bases – to permit the client to relocate the solar lights easily after development of the carpark.

Assessment

Initial site measurements were taken from Hi Resolution aerial imaging, follow up site visits confirmed the measurements and further clarified the clients’ requirements. A preliminary lighting design confirmed the SLD 20w Blade solar streetlight installed at 5500mm will meet the required Australian Standard. The level of detail shown within the proposal and specification of the Blade solar streetlight was appreciated by the client and the proposal was accepted.

Outcome

The SLD installation crew under the instruction of the project manager, secured the site to ensure WHS compliance, delivered set and levelled the relocatable footings, fixed the solar lights to the hinged columns, raised, and commissioned the project in one day with no disruption to the operation of the car park.
