Solar Lighting Designs supplied Big Sign Company with two Solar Billboard Lighting – Triple systems for separate roadside billboard projects in Queensland. The systems were selected to provide off-grid illumination for existing billboard structures, allowing the advertising displays to remain visible after dark.
Client Brief
Big Sign Company required a practical solar billboard lighting solution for two roadside advertising sites.
The brief was to illuminate each billboard at night using a self-contained solar system, avoiding the need to connect the signs to mains electricity. This also removed the requirement for trenching and cabling associated with a grid-connected lighting system.
For the Logan Road project, the billboard was being used to promote Amin’s Butcher & Grill. The second Queensland billboard featured advertising for Macallan College and Allora College.
Assessment
Solar Lighting Designs supplied one Solar Billboard Lighting – Triple system for each billboard.
The system incorporates three pivoting 35W LED fittings with an output of 7000 lumens each. The adjustable LED modules allow the light to be directed across the billboard face, with the system able to be mounted above or below the sign.
Each system also includes a 100W solar panel and LiFePO4 battery storage, allowing the lighting to operate independently of mains power.
Key features of the supplied commercial solar billboard lights included:
- Three 35W pivoting LED modules
- Automatic dusk-to-dawn operation
- Off-grid operation without a mains electrical connection
Outcome
The completed sites demonstrate how a solar-powered billboard light can provide dedicated nighttime illumination for roadside advertising without requiring mains power infrastructure. At both locations, the installed lighting can be seen directing light across the billboard faces after dark, supporting continued display visibility during nighttime conditions.
The system is designed for mounting either above or below the sign face, while the pivoting LED modules allow the light direction to be adjusted to suit the application.
Solar Billboard Lighting – Triple is a commercial solar lighting system. It uses three pivoting LED fittings, a solar panel and battery storage to illuminate signage without requiring connection to mains electricity.
No. The Solar Billboard Lighting – Triple operates as a self-contained solar lighting system, using a solar panel and LiFePO4 battery storage rather than a mains electrical connection.
