ent Brief
The Department of Transport and Main Roads Queensland approached Solar Lighting Designs (SLD) with concerns about vehicles speeding through the car park at their main offices. They required a reliable solution that could improve safety without relying on grid power or requiring disruptive civil works.
Assessment
SLD’s Queensland installation team conducted professional and comprehensive site assessments, including aerial analysis using industry tools, to determine optimal placement for the system. This ensured maximum visibility for approaching drivers and consistent solar exposure for reliable operation. Key site insights:
- Aerial and onsite analysis to identify the most visible locations.
- SLD’s site analysis ensured consistent solar charging and line-of-sight for radar detection.
- Designed for maximum driver impact without altering existing infrastructure.
Outcome
SLD supplied and installed a off-grid Solar Radar Speed Sign for the carpark mounted on an SLD Two-Piece Lighting Column. This off-grid system now provides a bright, highly visible visual reminder for drivers to slow down, enhancing safety for both staff and visitors within the facility.
