Client Brief
Council required illumination of beach volleyball courts using solar area lighting that meet competition illumination standards, operated on specific days and times. We were instructed consideration was to be given to local fauna and fauna when designing and installing the solar area lighting.
Assessment
Given the on-beach environmental conditions and specific lighting high output and programming requirements, we proposed our 80w Blade overhead solar fittings custom programmed to illuminate at full output producing 14,800 lumen from 5pm to 9pm, Monday to Friday only.
To ensure maximum corrosion resistance the 6mtr hinged columns were hot dip galvanised and powdercoated. The hinged columns were fitted to relocatable cement bases, the solar fittings installed at ground level before raising into position without working at height or an elevated work platform.
Outcome
The custom designed and programmed solar area lighting was installed by our Queensland branch in one day and illuminated the four courts that night. Council and the beach volleyball association were suitably impressed with the output of the solar area lighting system.
